Position Overview
Under general supervision, serves as designated lead worker; on an assigned shift oversees staff providing therapeutic care to patients in a secure residential care housing facility forensic unit. Coordinates the movements, conduct, activities, and basic care of patients under jurisdiction. Provides sub professional counseling to patients; prepares and records routine reports, logs and charts concerning patient behavior modification plans, process, and response to treatment of medication.
Job Responsibilities
1. Serves as designated lead worker.
2. On an assigned shift, oversees staff providing therapeutic care to patients in a secure residential care housing facility forensic unit.
3. Conducts formal, classroom training for trainees and other new facility staff.
4. Arbitrates disputes, or differences, between patients.
5. Provides security during distribution of prescribed medications.
6. Prepares and records routine reports, logs and charts concerning patient behavior modification plans, process, and response to treatment of medication.
7. Updates roster of patients for specific areas.
8. Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
2. Requires two years’ experience as a Security Therapy Aide, including successful completion of an approved Security Therapy Aide Training Program or equivalent experience.
Conditions of Employment
1. Requires the ability to walk and stand for a significant period of time, including stooping, bending and lifting.
2. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
3. Requires the ability to acquire and maintain CPR certificate.
4. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
5. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
6. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois. Please note that although the law has changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department’s zero tolerance Drug Testing policy. The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.
Work Hours: Various shifts. See below:
(5) Day Shift: 7:00am – 3:00pm
-Off every other weekend and set days off during the week
(7) Evening Shift: 3:00pm – 11:00pm
-Off every third weekend and rotating days off during the week
(7) Night Shift: 11:00pm – 7:00am
-Off every third weekend and rotating days off during the week
