Heartland Water Technology, Inc. is a dynamic and growing technology company that develops and markets proprietary wastewater treatment technology and services, focused at on the intersection between water, renewable energy and resource recovery. Our technology is used in a number of areas including solid waste, natural gas production, and electric power generation industries. Our systems beneficially re-use renewable and waste energy sources to power an evaporative water treatment process, delivering a cost effective and environmentally sustainable solution for our customers.

In this remote position, the candidate will report directly to the Chief Business Development Officer.

The Director of Business Development is responsible for generating new revenue as well as building and maintaining strong client relationships. The primary functions of this job include development, opportunity validation, proposal lifecycle management, sales growth, contract negotiations and superior customer service. The Director of Business Development requires flexibility to change goals, launch new initiatives and remove obstacles impeding the ability to achieve the sales goals.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop new accounts and maintain existing accounts by establishing a personal working relationship with key decision makers and influencers based on value, knowledge, trust and character
  • Conduct on-site customer visits with new and existing customers for the purpose of consultative selling solution experience
  • Create and execute an ongoing strategic plan to effectively develop and manage growth within your territory
  • Develop and deliver superior proposals and presentations showing business value to customers
  • Drive prospects through to contract award and successful implementation of the solution
  • Understand the competitive industry environment and use that knowledge to maximize sales opportunities. Stay updated on equipment offerings and technology
  • Build, deepen and maintain high level contacts with current and prospective business partners to increase market penetration and brand recognition
  • Develop and maintain a high level understanding of national market trends, client trends, and technology trends and advancements
  • Utilize sales tools, CRM and other resources to maximize communication with customers and management

Qualifications:

  • Proven success selling into a technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of directly related industry sales experience
  • Current relationships with industry contacts and customers
  • Passion for winning and results-driven
  • Team Player
  • Bachelors degree in a technical, related field, e.g., Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry.

Compensation: Annual target salary: Year 1 = $125,000 with a target bonus of $30,000 plus equity in a startup.

Remote position with roughly 25%-50% US travel. Quarterly meetings in MA or NC.

Pay: $125,000.00 – $155,000.00 per year
